Travelling abroad on business? With the Travel’n’Talk roaming plan you make voice and video calls, send and receive SMS, and use mobile internet.
Calls are carried as data over the 4G or 5G network, which improves their quality considerably. You get a faster connection when you call, clearer sound, and you can go on using mobile data on your device at full speed while the call is running.
VoLTE is the future of mobile voice and is gaining ground worldwide as operators gradually retire 2G and 3G. In countries where operators have switched the old networks off entirely, VoLTE is the only way to make a call.
You use VoLTE in roaming at no extra charge for the technology itself. Calls are charged by the minute according to your plan and do not draw on the MB of mobile internet in your plan or in any additional roaming bundle. On your invoice they appear as standard incoming and outgoing calls, with the duration and the number the call was to. Call dates and times are shown in Bulgarian time.
VoLTE calls can only be made on devices that support the technology and are set to use 4G/5G networks.
Regulation and terms
From 1 January 2026 Yettel is increasing the volume of megabytes your plan includes for use in roaming in the EU Zone.
You can check the exact volume of MB your plan includes for the EU Zone free of charge in the Yettel app at any time.
As a result of the change, where a subscription plan caps the volume of mobile internet in roaming in the EU Zone, once that volume is used up you may go on using mobile internet in roaming in the EU Zone at a surcharge of €0.0011 excluding VAT per MB, instead of €0.0013 excluding VAT as until now.
The change follows the entry into force of EU Regulation No 2022/612, which lowers the regulated wholesale price of mobile internet in roaming in the EU Zone from €1.3 to €1.1 per 1 GB.
Following the regulation, from 1 January 2026 the roaming charges applied where the fair use policy is not observed change as follows: the price of mobile internet becomes €0.0011 excluding VAT instead of €0.0013 excluding VAT as until now.
From 15 June 2017 an amendment to Regulation No 531/2012 of the European Parliament and of the European Council (the Regulation) is in force, removing the surcharges on calls, SMS and data within the European Union Zone (the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway). Implementing Regulation (EU) 2016/2286 sets out a fair use policy that operators may apply to regulated retail roaming services. Operators are entitled to apply regulated surcharges to all regulated roaming services where the fair use policy is breached.
Terms and prices for calls and SMS from and to the European Union Zone (including to Bulgaria) and for internet access in countries in the European Union Zone:
- Every outgoing minute and SMS from and to countries in the European Union Zone (including Bulgaria) is drawn from the national minutes and national SMS the plan includes. Once the included national minutes and SMS are used up, or if you have none, the price is the one the subscription plan sets for a minute or SMS to other national networks. If your national subscription plan also includes minutes for roaming calls, those go on applying on the terms used until now. An incoming call in roaming is not charged;
- For every MB used in roaming in the EU Zone:
- Where you are on a subscription plan defined as an “open data bundle”, the Operator is entitled to cap the volume of mobile internet in roaming at national prices, equal to twice the volume obtained by dividing the monthly subscription excluding VAT by the regulated maximum wholesale roaming price. Once that volume is reached you may go on using mobile internet in roaming at a surcharge per MB equal to the regulated maximum wholesale roaming price.
- Where the Operator does not cap the volume of mobile internet in roaming, customers may use their whole data volume in Bulgaria and in the EU Zone on national prices and terms. The exact volume of MB included for the European Union Zone can be checked free of charge at lp.yettel.bg or in the Yettel app at any time after the new terms take effect.
If you choose an alternative roaming tariff, you will not be able to use the terms of your national subscription plan while roaming in an EU/EEA member state.
“Open data bundle” means a tariff plan providing one or more retail mobile services which does not cap the volume of retail mobile data services included for a set fixed recurring charge, or for which the national unit price for retail mobile data services — obtained by dividing the total national price excluding VAT for retail mobile services over the whole billing period by the total volume of retail mobile data services provided within the country — is lower than the regulated maximum wholesale roaming price.
No. Roaming does not disappear; it is simply charged differently, so that it is cheaper and more convenient while you travel. In other words, while you travel in the EU zone you can use your mobile phone and what your plan includes as you would in Bulgaria, subject to some conditions.
It applies to all customers, on contract and on prepaid. To take advantage of the EU roaming terms you need roaming activated and a plan that permits roaming.
No. Yettel applies the price change automatically and you do not need to do anything.
All of them. If your plan includes unlimited minutes to all national networks, for example, you can call any number on an operator’s network in the EU zone without limit. If you have a set number of minutes you can use those too, and once they run out Yettel charges you for each additional minute according to your plan in Bulgaria.
If you are outside Bulgaria, your calls are charged as calls to other national networks, according to your plan in Bulgaria.
The same as minutes. If your plan includes national SMS you can use them without limit to any number on a network in the EU zone. If you have no SMS included, Yettel charges you according to your plan in Bulgaria.
Nothing at all. Since 15 June 2017 they are free within the EU.
This is a little more involved. If your plan includes national MB you can use them while travelling in the EU zone too, though limits are possible. Yettel either gives you a set quantity of MB, or you can use all the MB currently included for roaming at no extra charge. The exact quantity of MB for use in the EU zone is available to every customer in the Yettel app or on the mobile roaming management portal.
Yettel then charges you for each additional MB at the standard roaming rates for mobile internet. Yettel also notifies you when you reach 80% of your roaming MB, and again when they are fully used up.
All the countries of the European Union, plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Ukraine, Moldova, San Marino and some overseas territories of France.
That is roaming outside the EU zone, and it is charged at Yettel’s tariff.
No, that is an international call and is charged as one, at Yettel’s tariff.
No. The point of the regulation is to make things cheaper and more convenient while you travel. If you spend more time in another country than in Bulgaria, Yettel will begin charging for your usage.
When Yettel establishes that, over a period of 4 months, you have had a predominant presence in the EU zone — more than 50% of the days — and predominant consumption of mobile services in the EU zone, meaning more than 50% of your usage of the various services. In assessing predominant consumption, the different kinds of mobile service are considered separately — voice services (outgoing and incoming calls) and mobile internet. Usage of each service in the EU is compared with usage of it in Bulgaria, to establish where it predominates.
Yettel is entitled to apply a surcharge to regulated retail mobile roaming services in the EU zone when it establishes predominant presence and consumption of one or more services in the EU zone for purposes other than periodic travel. Yettel will warn you, and after 14 days may begin applying surcharges to your usage.
The message you receive states which type of service — calls or mobile internet — your EU roaming usage predominates in relative to Bulgaria. It means the minutes or MB provided to you under the EU Roaming Regulation will apply only within Bulgaria. If you have been given a limited volume of MB for EU roaming, you will not be able to use that either, and the minutes and MB you use in the EU zone will be charged.
If your presence predominates in the EU but only your mobile internet consumption does, the charging applies to that service alone. The same holds for voice services. Charging can be applied separately to the services where consumption predominates, provided presence in the EU zone predominates as well.
Yettel stops applying a surcharge and returns to the regulated EU roaming prices once it is established that, over the preceding 4 months, presence or consumption predominates on the Yettel network. You will be notified that you again meet the terms of the policy and can use the relevant mobile services while roaming in the EU "as at home", with no additional charge.
It is enough to register on the Yettel network at least once a day, and we will know you do not live permanently outside Bulgaria, so you can take advantage of the regulation.

Where the fair use policy for roaming in the EU zone is not observed for a particular service, Yettel is entitled to apply roaming charges to that service under art. 76d(h) of the General Terms. On receiving the notice under art. 76d(g) of the General Terms, the subscriber is entitled to present evidence — electronically, orally or in writing — that they are not using roaming for purposes other than periodic travel.

Buying an add-on bundle
You can buy a B Call&Surf Europe add-on bundle with included minutes, SMS and mobile internet for roaming at any time, whether you are in Bulgaria or abroad. B Call&Surf Europe bundles are one-off, and their price is added to and paid with the invoice for the month in which the bundle was bought.
Choose whichever way suits you best:
- go to lp.yettel.bg (free to reach in Bulgaria and abroad);
- dial *123# and choose one of the options (free in Bulgaria and abroad);
- send an SMS to 1616 with the text “BCS1”, “BCS3” or “BCS7”, where the digits match the validity of the bundle;
- contact your account manager.
Moving to standard roaming prices for internet
By deactivating a Roam&Surf add-on bundle you agree to move to standard roaming prices for mobile internet.
If you already hold roaming bundles of the B Call&Surf and Roam&Surf kind, they are deactivated and any MB remaining in them can no longer be used. Minutes and SMS remaining in B Call&Surf bundles are kept.
Standard-price charging for mobile internet in roaming also stays in force on your next trip outside Bulgaria.
You can move to standard roaming prices for mobile internet in any of the following ways:
- by submitting a request in a Yettel store;
- in the Yettel app — from Services / Roaming services / Roaming bundles choose “Move to standard roaming prices”;
- at lp.yettel.bg (free to reach in Bulgaria and abroad) choose “Move to standard roaming prices” — traffic to that page is free in Bulgaria and while roaming;
- by dialling *123# free of charge, option 5/3 “Standard roaming prices”;
- by sending an SMS to 12116 with the text “STOP” — sending the SMS is free in Bulgaria; abroad it is charged at standard roaming prices.
Where charging is at standard roaming prices, the roaming mobile internet limit applies.
Terms
B Call&Surf Europe add-on bundles are available to business customers on a subscription plan for mobile voice services.
B Call&Surf Europe add-on bundles include outgoing and incoming minutes, outgoing SMS and internet traffic in the European Union zone, the United Kingdom zone, the Balkans and Türkiye zone and the Other countries in Europe zone.
The validity of a B Call&Surf Europe add-on bundle starts as soon as it is bought.
The included minutes, SMS and megabytes apply only to:
- incoming calls from anywhere in the world to a country in the listed roaming zones;
- outgoing calls from the country in the listed roaming zones to the country of residence;
- outgoing calls from a country in the listed roaming zones to countries in the European Union zone and the United Kingdom zone;
- outgoing SMS from the listed zones; and
- mobile internet in the listed roaming zones.
Important
100% of the included services apply to roaming in the EU zone, the United Kingdom zone and Switzerland. That is, 100% of the included minutes apply to outgoing calls from the EU zone, the United Kingdom zone and Switzerland to the country of residence, the EU zone and the United Kingdom zone. At most 30% of the included services may be used while roaming in the Other countries in Europe zone and the Balkans and Türkiye zone. That is, at most 30% of the included minutes apply to outgoing calls from the Other countries in Europe zone and the Balkans and Türkiye zone to the country of residence, to the EU zone and to the United Kingdom zone.
Once the included roaming allowance is used up or the bundle’s validity period ends, whichever comes first, and if no bundle has been bought, services are charged at the standard roaming prices for the roaming zone concerned.
Where a customer holds an active Roam&Surf add-on bundle for mobile internet in roaming, and/or minutes, SMS and MB for roaming included in their subscription plan, and/or an active B Call&Surf Europe add-on bundle, and/or another add-on bundle with included roaming allowance, these are used up in the following order of priority:
- the minutes, SMS and MB for roaming in the zone concerned from the active B Call&Surf Europe add-on bundle;
- the MB for roaming in the zone concerned from the active Roam&Surf add-on bundle for mobile internet in roaming;
- the minutes, SMS and/or MB for roaming in the zone concerned from the subscription plan in use;
- all other remaining bundles with minutes, SMS and MB included for roaming in the zone concerned.
A new B Call&Surf Europe add-on bundle can be bought at any time, including while the current B Call&Surf Europe bundle is still valid. In that case the current bundle is deactivated automatically when the new one is activated, and any unused allowance in it is lost. No more than 2 identical bundles can be bought in one day.
When a B Call&Surf Europe add-on bundle is bought, its price and the mobile internet traffic it includes do not count towards the mobile internet limit for roaming.
Minutes, SMS and MB included in the add-on bundle that are not used within its validity period are lost.
The included allowance does not apply to outgoing calls to premium-rate service numbers.
On the included minutes
- Where the customer is in a country in the European Union zone and calls a number in a country in that zone, outgoing calls are charged according to the subscription plan.
- Where the customer is in a country in the Other countries in Europe zone, the United Kingdom zone or the Balkans and Türkiye zone and calls a number in the European Union zone, the United Kingdom zone or the country of residence, outgoing calls are charged in 60-second units with a minimum initial charge of 60 seconds.
- Incoming calls in the Other countries in Europe zone, the Balkans and Türkiye zone and the United Kingdom zone are charged in 60-second units with a minimum initial charge of 60 seconds.
- Incoming calls in the European Union zone are charged per second, both initially and subsequently.
On the included MB
- The initial and subsequent charging interval for mobile internet is 100 KB.
- Where the included minutes and SMS are used up before a B Call&Surf Europe bundle’s validity ends, they go on being charged at standard roaming prices or on the terms of other active add-on bundles.
- Where the megabytes included in a B Call&Surf Europe add-on bundle are used up, browsing while roaming continues at standard roaming prices until the customer goes to lp.yettel.bg or dials *123# and chooses one of the options.

When you buy an add-on roaming bundle while roaming in the EU, the MB the bundle provides are used first, and once they are used up the regulated prices for roaming in the EU zone apply.
You can buy an add-on bundle with mobile internet for roaming at any time, whether you are in Bulgaria or abroad:
- in the Yettel app — choose the roaming bundle you want from Services / Bundles / Roaming bundles and press “Activate”;
- through the Yettel web portal at business.yettel.bg (Main number and Administrator number only);

- Bundles for selected countries worldwide can be used in the countries listed outside Europe, and also in the Other countries in Europe zone, the European Union zone, the United Kingdom zone and the Balkans and Türkiye zone. They can be used in the European Union zone once the MB provided for roaming in the EU zone are used up. They cannot be used in the EU zone where there is an active data bundle valid in Bulgaria and the EU, at either high or low speed.
- MB from add-on roaming bundles valid for the Balkans and Türkiye zone are used in this order: 1. B Call&Surf, 2. Balkans & Turkey, 3. Other in Europe, 4. World. What happens to the mobile internet limit for roaming if I activate an add-on roaming bundle?
If you buy an add-on roaming bundle, its price and the traffic it includes do not count towards the mobile internet limit for roaming.
Example 1. With an EU M add-on bundle bought at €7.15 (including VAT) and an active mobile internet limit for roaming of €60 (including VAT):
- the amount for mobile internet used while roaming that can appear on the invoice will be at most €60 (where mobile internet in roaming is charged at standard roaming prices) + €7.15 (the price of the EU M bundle) = €67.15 (including VAT);
- traffic generated by mobile internet while roaming in countries in the European Union zone is deducted from the MB included in the EU M bundle.
Example 2. With an active mobile internet limit for roaming of €60 (including VAT) and no active add-on roaming bundle, the maximum amount for mobile internet used while roaming that can appear on the invoice is €60 (including VAT).

If you have no other active bundle for the zone, you move automatically to standard prices in that zone.
You can deactivate the bundle in any of the following ways:
- in a Yettel store;
- in the Yettel app — from Services / Roaming services / Roaming bundles choose the active roaming bundle and the “Deactivate” option;
- by dialling *123# free of charge;
- by sending an SMS to 12110 with the text TRADD for World Daily, TRAWD for World Weekly and TRAMD for World Monthly — sending the SMS is free in Bulgaria; abroad it is charged at standard roaming prices.
You can move to standard roaming prices — which deactivates every active roaming bundle — in any of the following ways:
- in a Yettel store;
- in the Yettel app — choose the roaming bundle you want from Services / Roaming services / Roaming bundles and choose “Move to standard roaming prices”;
- at lp.yettel.bg choose “Move to standard roaming prices” — traffic to that page is free in Bulgaria and while roaming;
- by dialling *123# free of charge, option 5/3 “Standard roaming prices”.
Internet traffic in Bulgaria and while roaming to the Yettel app and to lp.yettel.bg is free.
Where charging is at standard roaming prices, the mobile internet limit for roaming applies.
All prices exclude VAT.
As European regulation requires, Yettel provides a safeguard against high bills for mobile internet while roaming.
The limit is €50.00 excluding VAT per billing period.
You receive a notification SMS at 80% and at 100% of the limit. Once 100% of the limit is used, mobile internet while roaming is suspended.
If you want to go on using mobile internet while roaming after reaching 100% of the limit, contact your account manager, or — if you are served by a store — call our Customer Service department on 123 (+359 89 123 from abroad).
To go on using the service with the limit active, you can choose between two options:
- suspend the limit temporarily until the end of the billing period (for prepaid customers, until the end of the month). At the start of the next billing period (for prepaid customers, the start of the next month) the €50.00 excluding VAT limit applies again;
- raise the mobile internet limit for roaming once to €100.00 excluding VAT by contacting your account manager, or — if you are served by a store — call our Customer Service department on 123 (+359 89 123 from abroad). The charge for the roaming call is refunded on a later invoice.
When 100% of the €100.00 excluding VAT limit is reached you are notified and mobile internet while roaming is suspended. To go on using mobile internet past the second limit, contact your account manager again, or — if you are served by a store — call our Customer Service department on 123 (+359 89 123 from abroad), to suspend the limit temporarily or remove it entirely.
Raising the limit once to €100 excluding VAT applies until the invoice date (for prepaid customers, until the end of the month). After the invoice (the end of the month) a €50.00 excluding VAT roaming limit is applied automatically, provided it has not been removed entirely in the meantime.
Turn the mobile internet limit for roaming on or off online at yettel.bg.
To remove the mobile internet limit for roaming, contact your account manager or visit a Yettel store to complete a deactivation request.
In that case only the main credit limit applies, and it takes precedence. When it is reached, mobile internet while roaming is suspended whether or not the mobile internet limit for roaming has been reached.
If you have removed your roaming limit and later want it back, contact your account manager or submit a request to activate it in a Yettel store.

IMPORTANT: since 1 July 2014 you can use roaming providers other than Yettel in the European Union while continuing to use Yettel roaming in all other countries.
To deactivate international roaming, send an SMS free of charge from Bulgaria to 1210 with the text “D”.
Deactivation messages sent from abroad are charged according to the Travel’n’Talk roaming plan.
While you are roaming, charging depends on which Travel’n’Talk zone you are in and which service you used. The main principles are:
- receiving text messages (SMS) is free;
- the roaming services you use are charged on the basis of a call record provided by the operator abroad whose network you registered to. How long that record takes varies between operators, so the roaming services you use may appear on your next Yettel invoice rather than on the one issued immediately after you get back.
Tips
- If you are in a Bulgarian border area with international roaming active and network selection set to automatic on your phone, your phone may register to another operator’s network even though you are on Bulgarian territory. On another operator’s network you get only the services available while roaming, charged at roaming prices.
- To avoid running up roaming charges, switch to manual mode by turning on “Manual network selection” on your handset.
- Before you travel, check that the power sockets in the country you are going to suit your phone’s charger, and that your phone works on the network frequencies there. A quad-band phone is best — that way you have a mobile connection wherever in the world you are.
- Yettel tells every customer abroad the prices of roaming services in the country they are in.
- If you would rather not receive further information about roaming prices, dial *123# free of charge, option 4, and choose option 4/1. To start receiving roaming price information again, dial *123# free of charge, option 4, and choose option 4/2.
What are the prices for prepaid plans?
Roaming prices in the United Kingdom zone are the same for subscription and prepaid plans, as shown in the table.
What does an international call, SMS or MMS from Bulgaria to the United Kingdom cost?
There is no change to the price of an international call, SMS or MMS from Bulgaria to the United Kingdom.
Will the international minutes for the EU included in my plan still apply to the United Kingdom?
Yes.
Will my EU roaming minutes apply in the United Kingdom?
From 29 June 2022 the European “roam like at home” regulation no longer applies to the United Kingdom, so the services included in your tariff plan do not apply there. Roaming services in the United Kingdom are charged at United Kingdom zone prices.
If I have breached the fair use policy, what price applies to calls in the United Kingdom after 29 June 2022?
The fair use policy does not apply in the United Kingdom after 29 June 2022, and roaming services there are charged at United Kingdom zone prices. If a customer was identified as breaching the fair use policy as at 28 June 2022 and their roaming traffic in the United Kingdom was charged at the breach prices, then from 29 June 2022, if they are still in the United Kingdom, they are charged at United Kingdom zone roaming prices.
I have bought a bundle whose validity ends after 29 June 2022 — what happens to it?
Add-on bundles for roaming in the EU zone are not valid for that country from 29 June 2022. If you bought an EU zone roaming bundle whose validity ends after 29 June 2022, you cannot use it in the United Kingdom after that date.
Which bundles can I use for calls and mobile internet in the United Kingdom?
Add-on bundles for roaming in the Europe zone (Roam&Surf Europe S and L) apply to the United Kingdom zone.
I have an iPhone and use iMessage and FaceTime. Are messages still charged at €0.06?
Yes, they are still charged at €0.06.
If I am in an EU member state and receive an incoming call from a number in the United Kingdom, what will I pay?
The price for incoming calls while roaming in the EU is €0.00.
If I am in an EU member state and call a Bulgarian number that is in the United Kingdom, what will I pay?
- On a subscription plan, calls from an EU member state to the United Kingdom are drawn from the minutes included in your plan. Once those are used up, calls are charged at your plan’s price for calls to other national networks.
- On a prepaid plan, calls are charged at the prices for calls to an EU country.
If I am outside the EU zone and call a Bulgarian number that is in the United Kingdom, what will I pay?
The price of an outgoing call to the United Kingdom while roaming in the Other countries in Europe zone is €1.49 excluding VAT per minute, and while roaming in the Countries outside Europe zone €2.56 excluding VAT per minute.
If I am outside the EU zone and receive an incoming call from a number in the United Kingdom, what will I pay?
The price for incoming calls while roaming follows the price list of the roaming zone the customer is in, and is the same whichever destination the incoming call comes from. Some operators charge extra for incoming calls.
Under Turkish law 7186 & 23, roaming offenders have their access to Turkish mobile networks restricted.
That law applies to roaming offenders for mobile data while roaming.
A roaming offender for mobile data use is defined as a customer using roaming services from the same IMEI for 91 days (cumulative) or over a period of more than 120 days.
Where a customer of another operator (Yettel) is classified as above, their access to the Turkish mobile network is suspended and they are notified by text message from the Turkish operator concerned.
Satellite, maritime and in-flight networks
An outgoing call to a satellite network costs 6.39 € from the Other countries in Europe, Balkans and Turkey, United Kingdom and Countries outside Europe zones, and 5.62 € from the European Union zone.
A change in the terms
The terms and prices for roaming in the European Union zone changed with effect from 15 June 2017.
